WELCOME TO SEVENTH DISTRICT

Annual Financial Report Due
PTA is required to complete an Annual Financial Report at the end of each fiscal year and to forward a copy of the report to Seventh District.

It's Time To Update Bank Signature Cards
New presidents, treasurers and any other newly elected check-signing officers should plan to visit the bank to update the account. The new treasurer should ensure that all former officers are removed from the account. Remember, the secretary should NOT be a signer on the account, nor should the auditor or school principal - only authorized elected check-signers (per bylaws Article VI, Section 4).  It is recommended that PTAs call the bank before visiting to determine what is required.

Creating Budgets for 2010-2011 School Year
The budgeting process begins in the spring as soon as new officers are elected [Toolkit 5.1.4]. If your unit hasn’t already started the budget process, do it now. [Sample Budget Form]

1. The new or returning president calls a meeting of the new board.

2. The president appoints a budget committee, to be chaired by the treasurer. (Check your standing rules to see if a budget committee is already specified. If not, the president should appoint one.)

3. The board ratifies the budget committee appointments.

4. The budget committee creates a proposed budget, consulting with the PTA programs committee, school administrators/teachers and parents.

5. The treasurer presents the proposed budget to the board.

6. At the first PTA association meeting in the fall, the treasurer presents the proposed budget for consideration.
